Season Stool: A Multifunctional Marvel

Wenhan Zhang's Award-Winning Design Revolutionizes Urban Living

The Season Stool is not just a stool, but a versatile piece of furniture that serves multiple purposes. It features a hidden support underneath the base that facilitates easy movement, making it a portable addition to any room. The top cushion can be removed, transforming the stool into a side table, ideal for a laptop or small items. Furthermore, the table surface can be removed to reveal a hidden storage space, perfect for daily life items.

The stool's unique properties are not just limited to its multifunctionality. Its design and construction also set it apart. The interior structure is made of solid wood, and the perforated top is composed of low-formaldehyde microparticles. The stool also features a high-resistance technical fabric strap or belt and a wooden support at its base to prevent bottom materials from abrasion.

Measuring 300 mm in seat diameter, 400 mm in base diameter, and 510 mm in height, the Season Stool is compact and perfect for contemporary residential settings. Its simple, contemporary design is available in multiple colors and finishes, allowing it to blend seamlessly into various interior styles.

The design process for the Season Stool began in September 2021 in China and concluded in December of the same year. Production is set to commence in May 2022. The design was informed by geographic information, consumption data, and service feedback from a partnership with Jiangxi Sanyou Furniture Company. The goal was to improve the quality of life for younger generations and city tenants, especially in the context of increased indoor living due to Covid-19.

Despite the challenges of avoiding homogenization in stool design, Zhang succeeded in creating a unique piece that integrates into any residential environment. The stool's design, which includes a leather pull on the top for easy removal of the cushion, is a testament to Zhang's innovative approach. This design earned the Season Stool a Silver A' Furniture Design Award in 2022, a prestigious accolade rewarding top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs.
